FUNCTION Overview:

The Manager for Hardware Engineering - Electronics, Electrical Systems and Innovation (EESI) position is responsible for leading a team of hardware engineers to deliver project execution, knowledge creation and capture, technical mentorship and consistent sound engineering practices. This professional is also expected to drive innovation and develop technologies within the electronics space. High quality demonstrated experience and Knowledge in Hardware, exceptional systems thinker. Excellent developer of technical talent. Proven Development and Execution Experience, Lean Product Development. Proven System Integration capability. Project Management and an outstanding influencer. This team leader will be responsible for leading a cross-cultural group of more than 7 hardware engineers, with global responsibility of delivering designs in home appliance controls and human machine interfaces.

Responsibilities:

Planning:

  • Work with the EESI Architecture leaders, EESI Subsystems, Verification and Validation (V&V), Planning and Solution Architects to understand the Hardware needs
  • Future Project Plan ( P2 ) finalization which includes a plan to support the delivery with the right tradeoffs within EESI and Product Platform teams.
  • Budget and resource plans aligned with cross-functional teams.
  • Work with EESI Architecture Leaders to align Quality and Cost targets for the year.
  • Work with Human Resources and EESI Leaders to plan actions for delivering people excellence metrics.

Execution:

  • Delivery of projects per commitment to meet P2, P4G (Productivity for Growth - Cost) and Quality targets.
  • Technical Design Reviews to ensure project is delivering per architecture.
  • At G1 (Kickoff gate) ensure that the project definition which includes project scope for the product, schedule, factory, service, quality, cost, IoT (Internet of Things) features, Ux (User Experience) are captured, reviewed with architects, Verification and Validation (V&V).
  • Reporting project status weekly to ensure there are no surprises. The Andon system used to solve problems proactively.
  • Change management in place to manage the changes to the project.
  • At M6 ( Design Completion Milestone ) complete the project delivery.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • 5
    years technical leadership experience in development, testing and implementation of technology projects
  • 2
    years experience leading engineering teams
  • Experience working with Global and regional Groups, both Vertical and Horizontal

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ms.C. in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Industry standards (UL, IEC, etc), Schematics and PCB Layout development and tools, ideally with CADENCE Tools
  • Understand and improve business processes, specifically on the engineering development cycle.
  • Communication and negotiating skills
  • 6 Sigma Methodology
  • EMC & EMI standards and testing procedures
  • Design high volume products dealing with contract manufacturers
  • Electronic Controls manufacturing processes
  • Mechanical assemblies
  • Capacitive Touch technologies for touch buttons and/or touch screens
  • Mixed-signal and embedded board-level design experience including Up to 32-bit microcontrollers.
  • Power supply development
