Facilities Engineer

We are looking to fill a full time Facilities Engineer with an automotive supplier located in the area of Benton Harbor, MI. Must have a background in maintenance within a manufacturing environment. If you fit the job description and salary range below, send your resume for consideration.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
Supervises the maintenance and repair of plant equipment, buildings and grounds. May also be responsible for engineering design and construction of new facilities, or alterations or modifications to existing facilites.
DUTIES
Supervises building repairs and alterations
Arrange procurement of outside contractors and MRO Parts
Works to continuously improve safety and ensures employees comply with Safety Standards
Compiles and maintains factual information on plant facilities
Prepares preventative maintenance programs
Oversees construction and repair projects
Arranges for outside contractors to carry out specific maintenance and repair assignments
Supervise maintenance personnel
Help in trouble shooting equipment
Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the supervisor
Complies with the following OSHA Safety Standards:
Hazard Communication; Bloodborne Pathogens; Lockout; Permit Required Confined Space; Hot Work Permit; Powered Industrial Trucks; P.P.E. and Ergonomics
When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job
CLIMATE
Works in a fast paced, high pressure environment where downtime is measured in minutes and seconds. Makes quick and accurate decisions that impact customers, employees, and other stakeholders. Routinely works weekends and holidays, and is on call for plant emergencies.

DUTIES STANDARDS
Directs and completes all emergency and routine repairs of plant equipment under his area of responsibility.
Reviews work orders to determine work priorities and assign them to subordinates accordingly.
Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure machines and equipment are properly running.
Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to repair or upgrade machinery.
Directs and completes all preventative maintenance work orders under his area of responsibility.
Assigns preventative maintenance work orders to personnel based on priority and skill level of associates.
Audits completed work orders to ensure that work is done properly and equipment is in safe and proper running order.
Makes recommendations to the Maintenance Manager for improvements to specific preventative maintenance instructions and systems.
Manages personnel in terms of evaluation, training, and communication.
Promotes safe working conditions and habits for all maintenance personnel.
Maintains the proper discipline of his subordinates and to identify and follow up with employees on cases of poor work performance.
Assists the Maintenance Manager in evaluating the adequacy of the training programs and make recommendations to fulfill training needs and requirements.
Conducts daily shift communication meetings with subordinates to discuss safety, reoccurring equipment problems, and to delegate assignments.
Maintains all work areas in a safe and orderly fashion according to plant standards.
Ensures that maintenance personnel return tools, parts, and other equipment to the proper storage place.
Conducts audits to ensure that maintenance personnel complete proper 5S activity in their areas of responsibility.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The job works in conditions with constant exposure (67% or more) to noise, odors, dust, drafts, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc. Carrying, pushing, or pulling of heavy objects (over 5 lbs.) is regularly necessary. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
