Berrien County Health Department is currently hiring for Business Analyst to join our team in Benton Harbor or Niles Michigan! The Business Analyst is responsible for plans, designs, and conducts operational analysis and assists with a variety of activities designed to maximize financial effectiveness in support the Health Department mission and finance team.
Compensation:
$53,984 - $72,343 Job Responsibilities Provides routine review and analysis of clinic accounts receivable, including review of daily and weekly cash postings and check/EFT report; develops and maintains key performance indicators (KPI) and dashboard.
Maintains strong cash control policies and procedures including recording deposit and reconciliations of Patagonia Health postings to MUNIS receipts.
Participates in policy and procedure development; maintains and updates Health Department fee schedules, 340B pricing schedules and registrations; maintains encounter forms, ROS, Billing Resource Manuals, immunizers and roster billing requirements.
Maintains all aspects of credentialing, including new employees and providers, monitors third party public and commercial insurers' contracts, payer website and access/registration, CMS registrations for Medicare and Medicaid.
Responsible for continuous quality improvement and business process improvement related to clinic billings; reviews denied, rejected claims and errors; reduces billing delays; ensures compliance with requirements.
Reconciles and distributes monthly patient statements; performs bad debt write off/review for approval by Business Manager.
Reviews and recommends credit card receipt procedures that minimizes fees to customers and simplifies internal processes and recording.
Answer/respond to correspondence related to patient accounts.
Available to answer billing and related inquiries by patients, staff, third-party payers, etc.
Resolves all billing problems including errors, rejections and denials, coordinating efforts with internal staff, public and private insurance companies, and outside entities.
Manages and maintains records of all billing related documentation.
Posts and reconciles payments received to the patient record for clinical services using the electronic health record and patient billing application (Patagonia).
Prepares summaries and statistical analysis of data for clinical and administration decision making processes.
Ensures HIPAA compliance within activities throughout the department through routine audits and implementation of confidentiality standards.
Supports and ensures audit documentation related to clinic revenues, financial record keeping are compliant with regulators.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or closely related field,
Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience preferably in a health care or governmental setting demonstrating familiarity with accounting practices and an understanding of financial management systems.
